Struggling with Restless Nights?

It seems like an eternity since you last woke up feeling refreshed. Morning after morning, you find yourself battling fatigue, groggy and just over it.

You probably didn't know that the repercussions of poor sleep stretches further than feeling fatigued and groggy. It's not just about the heavy eyelids and constant yawns.

Poor sleep significantly spikes cortisol levels, a stress hormone that promotes fat storage. It increases hunger related hormones, triggering insatiable cravings while also reducing your insulin sensitivity and metabolism leading to more fat storage. Your memory, cognition, and 'feel good' hormones take a huge hit leaving you moody and all over the place. Let's not forget the accelerated signs of aging and compromised recovery, leaving you feeling perpetually strained.

Fall Asleep Faster

Sleep - Liquid Sleep & MEtabolism Aid contains ingredients that helps you relax and fall asleep fast.

Falling asleep is a complex physiological process that involves a series of stages and the interaction of multiple neurotransmitters, hormones, and neural networks.

Passion Flower Extract aids deep sleep through its interaction with GABA receptors in the central nervous system. Passion flower has also shown anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties in some studies, which may be due to its GABAergic effects as well as other mechanisms. Reducing anxiety and inducing a state of calm can help prepare the body for sleep. Some compounds in passion flower, such as flavonoids and alkaloids, have been shown to have mild sedative effects. This can help not only in falling asleep but also in achieving deeper, more restorative stages of sleep. The antispasmodic properties of passion flower may help relax tense muscles, further facilitating the onset of sleep. This could be particularly helpful for those whose sleep is disrupted due to physical discomfort or restlessness.

Mucuna pruriens is a tropical legume that has been used traditionally for various medicinal purposes It is a natural source of L-DOPA, a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine. Mucuna pruriens, through its L-DOPA content, can convert to dopamine in the brain. Dopamine plays a complex role in sleep regulation, including the promotion of REM sleep. Increased dopamine levels from L-DOPA could potentially lead to enhanced sleep quality by influencing sleep stages.

Corydalis yanhusuo is a traditional herbal remedy commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). One of the primary ways Corydalis yanhusuo is believed to contribute to falling asleep faster/ sedation is through its interaction with the GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) system where it inhibits the reuptake, thereby increasing the availability of GABA in the synaptic cleft.

GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which means that it reduces neuronal excitability. By binding to GABA receptors, certain bioactive compounds in passion flower can potentiate the inhibitory effects of GABA, leading to a decrease in neural activity. This calming effect is conducive to transitioning from lighter stages of sleep to deeper, more restorative stages.

Magnesium acts as a cofactor for the activation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors. GABA is a neurotransmitter that inhibits neural activity, thereby promoting relaxation and sleep. Magnesium is also involved in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that subsequently converts to melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles.

Mesembrine (Kanna Extract) interacts with the brain's neurotransmitter systems. One of the main mechanisms attributed to mesembrine is its role as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI). This means it inhibits the reabsorption of serotonin into the presynaptic cell, increasing the levels of serotonin in the synaptic cleft and leading to enhanced mood and reduced anxiety, both of which can contribute to better sleep. Some evidence suggests that mesembrine may inhibit the action of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), an enzyme that breaks down cyclic AMP. Elevated levels of cyclic AMP can lead to improved mood and cognitive function.

5-HTP indirectly contributes to increased melatonin production, by increasing serotonin levels which can aid in sleep. Some studies have indicated that 5-HTP can improve the quality of sleep by prolonging the duration of the REM phase, although more research is needed in this area.

Improved Focus and Cognitive Function

Sleep - Liquid Sleep & Metabolism Aid contains Nootropics and Dopamine Precursors that allow for better cognitive function, mood, focus and mind muscle connection.

L-Tyrosine is a precursor to several key neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin and epinephrine. These neurotransmitters are crucial for regulating mood, cognition and the body's response to stress. Intense exercise has been proven to decrease these important neurotransmitters (especially dopamine) and by supplementing L-Tyrosine the dopaminergic system is enhanced. This is due to the increase in raw material required to synthesis dopamine leading to decrease in fatigue and increase in cognitive function.

L-Theanine is an amino acid primarily found in tea leaves and small amounts in some mushrooms. Supplementation of L-Theanine has been proven to increase the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain such as GABA, serotonin, and dopamine. When L-Theanine is combined with caffeine the increased neurotransmitter activation and blocking of adenosine receptors leads to a "relaxed state of alertness" that negates the jitters commonly associated with caffeine.

Mucuna pruriens is a tropical legume that has been used traditionally for various medicinal purposes It is a natural source of L-DOPA, a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine. Mucuna pruriens, through its L-DOPA content, can convert to dopamine in the brain. Elevated dopamine levels are generally associated with improved mood, which can mitigate sleep-disrupting conditions like anxiety and depression.

5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid derivative. It is produced in the body from the amino acid tryptophan.

Unlike other precursors like tryptophan, 5-HTP bypasses the rate-limiting step of serotonin production (conversion of tryptophan to 5-HTP via the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase) and can readily cross the blood-brain barrier. This makes it more effective at increasing serotonin levels.

The primary physiological role of 5-HTP is as an intermediate in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin. The pathway is as follows:

  1. Dietary tryptophan is converted into 5-HTP via the enzyme tryptophan hydroxylase. or 5-HTP is supplemented.
  2. 5-HTP is then decarboxylated by the enzyme aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase to produce serotonin.

Given its role in serotonin synthesis, 5-HTP is often used therapeutically, primarily in supplement form, for conditions associated with low serotonin levels, such as:

  • Depression: To potentially elevate mood.
  • Sleep disorders: To possibly help improve sleep quality and duration.
  • Migraines: Some studies suggest 5-HTP may reduce the frequency and severity of migraines, potentially due to its influence on serotonin levels.

Appetite Suppression, Anti Inflammation and Antioxidants

Sleep - Liquid Sleep & Metabolism Aid contains ingredients that have been proven to suppress appetite, assisting you in keeping calories down.

Cissus quadrangularis is a traditional medicinal plant found in parts of Africa and Asia, widely recognized for its diverse health benefits. Rich in vitamin C, carotenoids, and triterpenoids, it has been studied for its ability to accelerate bone healing by stimulating osteoblast activity. The plant also exhibits strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Cissus quadrangularis also acts as a natural appetite suppressant showing major BMI changes when consumed over a 4 week period.

Paradoxine (Grains of Paradise), contains bioactive compounds such as 6-paradol, 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol, have appetite suppression, anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

5-HTP increases Serotonin, which in the brain is known to produce feelings of satiety and to reduce appetite. It essentially acts as a "satiety signal," telling your body that you are full and should stop eating. Elevated serotonin levels have been associated with a reduction in food intake, particularly with regards to carbohydrate consumption, which is often a go-to food group when people experience low mood or stress.

Alleviate Stress and Anxiety Naturally

GABA: Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps to reduce neuronal excitability. Supplementing with GABA may help to calm the nervous system, potentially reducing stress and anxiety.

Mucuna Puriens (Yielding 15% L-Dopa): Mucuna pruriens is a natural source of L-DOPA, a precursor to dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter associated with mood and stress regulation. By increasing dopamine levels, Mucuna Pruriens may help alleviate stress and improve mood.

Tyrosine: This amino acid is a precursor to neurotransmitters like dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, which are involved in mood regulation and the body's stress response. Supplementing with tyrosine might help improve mood and resilience to stress.

Passion Flower Extract 10:1: Traditionally used for its calming effects, passion flower is believed to increase levels of GABA in the brain, which can reduce stress and anxiety.

Magnesium Citrate: Magnesium plays a role in regulating neurotransmitters, and its deficiency has been linked with increased stress and anxiety.

L-Theanine: Found in tea leaves, L-Theanine is an amino acid that can promote relaxation without causing drowsiness. It is thought to work by influencing GABA levels.

Mesembrine (Kanna Extract): Mesembrine is thought to act as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, which may increase serotonin levels and help alleviate mood disorders like stress and anxiety.

5-HTP: This is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that plays a crucial role in mood regulation. Supplementing with 5-HTP may help increase serotonin levels, thereby reducing stress and improving mood.

Corydalis Yanhusuo: Traditionally used in Chinese medicine for pain relief, it may also have sedative and anxiolytic effects, possibly through modulation of the dopamine pathway.

Increased Thermogenesis and Metabolism while you sleep

Thermogenesis is the process by which your body generates heat by burning calories. The calories burned either come from immediate food intake or stored body fat. There are 3 types of thermogenesis: Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) which is the number of calories burned at rest, Activity-Induced Thermogenesis (AIT) which is energy expended during activity/ exercise, and Diet-Induced Thermogenesis (DIT) which refers to the energy expended during digestion, absorption and distribution of nutrients. By increasing Thermogenesis you can increase your overall energy expenditure and potentially lose weight. Certain Ingredients in Burn of the Gods have been proven to increase thermogenesis, BMR/RMR and DIT:

Paradoxine (Grains of Paradise), is a potent thermogenic that has a wide range of benefits. Paradoxine contains certain compounds such as 6-paradol which has been proven to invoke thermogenesis by stimulating Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT).

Cissus quadrangularis and lipid metabolism are of particular interest for metabolic health. Lipids, which include triglycerides, cholesterol, and other fatty substances, play a crucial role in energy storage, hormone synthesis, and cellular function. However, imbalanced lipid levels, such as high levels of LDL ("bad" cholesterol) and triglycerides or low levels of HDL ("good" cholesterol), can contribute to metabolic disorders like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases

Brown Adipose Tissue and Fat Oxidation

Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT), is one of two types of fat found around the body, the other being White Adipose Tissue (WAT)/ Stubborn Soft Fat. Unlike WAT, BAT is known for its ability to invoke Thermogenesis and rather than storing fat, burns it. BAT is packed with mitochondria, which are the powerhouses of cells that convert fatty acids into energy, causing thermogenesis. Within these Mitochondria there is a unique protein called Uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), this protein is largely responsible for the thermogenic properties of BAT. Usually, when fatty acids are oxidised in the mitochondria, the energy released is used to pump protons across the mitochondrial membrane, creating a gradient. This gradient is then used to make Adenosine Tri-phosphate (ATP), the body's main form of energy. UCP1 disrupts this process and allows the protons to flow back across the membrane without making ATP, causing the energy to be released as heat. A study published to the British journal of nutrition in 2013 was first to report that Paradoxine (Grains of Paradise) supplementation leads to greater energy expenditure and brown fat stimulation compared to the placebo group. BAT activation leads to greater weight loss but also can turn WAT into BAT, this process is called "browning".

Effectively, Grains of Paradise increases BAT activation, the amount of browning that occurs within your body and also increases Fat Oxidation.

Fat oxidation is the process which stored fatty acids are broken down and converted into usable energy, this process occurs in the mitochondria of cells. The first step to fat oxidation is lipolysis, where stored fatty acids are broken down into free fatty acids. this process is regulated by hormones such as epinephrine, growth hormone, and glucagon. Once released into the blood stream, they bind to carrier proteins called albumin and are then transported to various areas around the body such as: skeletal muscle, liver and heart, where they can be utilised as energy. Beta-Oxidation then occurs when once the fatty acids are transported through the cell into mitochondria. the Mitochondria then break down the fatty acids into two carbon units known as acetyl-COA which then enter the citric cycle (Krebs Cycle). In this cycle they are further oxidised, leading to production of Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP).
